My work is a manifestation of joy that combats the negativity of the world and my own mind. I like to surround myself with imagery I enjoy, bringing delight to those around me as well. In a world full of oppression and bigotry, many people turn to small joys to stay cheerful as they go through life. Things like cartoons, cute accessories, and fashion (specifically decora) inspire my work; I combine these influences into bright, colorful, sometimes maximalist pieces that are visually engaging and invoke excitement.

My art tends to be not very big, because the end result is either a print, painting or drawing I can display in my space, or it’s an object I can wear and/or use to accessorize myself, like crochet items. It’s an opportunity to broadcast my interests and personality to the outside world. When I do work bigger, it is usually focused more on allowing myself to take up space unapologetically.

The work often explores self expression and self confidence, looking inward without judgment. I incorporate organic shapes and saturated colors that are inviting and comforting, while the subject is either myself or various animals. It explores an ideal world in which I can do and be whatever I please, without caring what others think. This both encourages me to be the truest version of myself and encourages others to do the same for themselves.
